Those are beautiful shots. I like the one with the hairy caterpillar. I am just wondering how the bird will eat that worm which is longer than its mouth. Well done Tateo. Mabuhay.

The forest wagtail is a prize catch. Congratulations for the nice capture of this rare species. I was able to document this bird in Irawan a couple of years ago on a butterfly watching trip. I was shooting a butterfly when this one suddenly flew in. As it happens often, and very often, I was distracted. Here was my lifer then. telyds

Wow.... both birds amazing captures, Tateo! I took this photo in Palawan and I like to share. My friend Nilo A. said that one of these bird is rare. Plaintive Cuckoo? Canon 7D + 300mm f/2.8L + 1.4x TC, @420mm, f/4.0, 1/25Sec, ISO-200, Gimbal and Tripod Yes.... an immature Plaintive Cuckoo for me too because of the longitudinal barring at the throat, as opposed to the transverse barring in the same area for an immature Brush Cuckoo (see ref. photo below): A ref. photo of an immature PC from Candaba:

Now I find the identification of the cuckoo.

The Forest Wagtail is a rare bird in the Philippines. Could you tell us what date you saw it and more or less where? many thanks Des On Plaintive? There are similarities to a Plaintive than a Brush Cuckoo (as pointed out by Romy in the ref photos) for the second cuckoo photo. However, I can see a white/light shade above the eye-line on the first photo which may suggest a Banded Bay Cuckoo? Thanks.
