The birds were not cooperating when we went to Nug-as (Ely T, Osawa and I), so I took out my trusty old Sigma 150mm F/2.8 Macro, paired it with the EOS 450D and got me some macros of the bugs that were there. All the photos were taken with the same ISO settings, natural light (no flash) on a Manfrotto Tripod with cable release. Camera: Canon EOS 450D; Exposure: 0.008 sec (1/125) Aperture: f/10.0; Focal Length: 150 mm; ISO Speed: 1600 Exposure Bias: 0 EV A Bug!Bug 1Bug 2 Bug 3

Wow..... amazingly colorful bugs, Bobby! Did you get some macro shots of the Nug-as itchy bug that victimized you and Osawa-san? That will be great, especially if captured in its natural habitat (while causing itch on its prey).

incredible set sir! I am yet to try that macro thing. is it hard? It's just like taking any other picture, except that you need a Macro lens, and proper stabilization techniques. You have to try it to get the hang of it, my friend. :-) Wow..... amazingly colorful bugs, Bobby! Did you get some macro shots of the Nug-as itchy bug that victimized you and Osawa-san? That will be great, especially if captured in its natural habitat (while causing itch on its prey). Bwahahaha, one of these days, Ka Mastah, I'll try that! Bwahahaha - with Osawa as the victim, hahahaha!

my TC doubles up as an extension tube. But it kills everything, meaning full manual, not even a reading on the meter, exif records aperture as 0.
Stabilization, I think that's going to be the keyword. I will try this sometime.

I guess you're able to take out the optics or something like that. Stabilization here means just a tripod or similar device that will keep your camera stable while taking the photo. You will also notice that the DOF is very shallow (even at f/10) so you have to "experiment" with your set-up to get your desired results. :-)

its a Kenko 2x NA Teleplus Macro sir. A really old model from my film days. You just twist it like a zoom lens and you have a Macro, twist it back, and it is a TC.
I have tried it before and I was ok with stabilizing my camera. Stabilizing the subject is another challenge specially outdoors as the slightest movement really messes it up.
