Here are some behind-the-scene shots (in chronological order) from the 400mm bandits' birding sortie last May 1 and 2 at the foothills of Mt. Halcon, Oriental Mindoro. Special thanks to our hosts and guides Dickie Acedera and Efren Garcellano, Mt. Halcon mountaineering legends. We had a grand time. BIRDNUT SENSES. Birdnut Bert notices some activity and promptly scans the area while he rechecks his camera's settings. A "Brazo de Mando" gimbal head on a Manfrotto 190XB secures his Canon 40D and BigmOS (Sigma 150-500 OS). TAILING THE RACQUET-TAILS. Edu patiently stalks and waits for the Blue-crowned Racquet-Tails to reappear. He uses a portable heavy-duty aerospace-grade aluminum cellular antenna1 (boosting his phone's signal reception) as support for his gear -- a Nikkor 80-400 VR on a Nikon D90 body. HEAVY HEFTING. Gabs hefting his birding rig, a Nikon D300s and a Bigma (Sigma 50-500), as he treks a river. Adding to his cross is the ginormous Manfrotto 393 gimbal head and a 055XPROB tripod. DILIGENT SHOOTER. Toto diligently fires bursts at the flowerpeckers by the side of a river. The fast-focusing EF 400mm f/5.6 L coupled with the fast frame rate of his Canon 50D allows him to track the little birds which are in constant motion. Toto and Gabs have a shot of yours truly under the Lanzones canopy blissfully stalking the Mindoro Bleeding Hearts. ;D
I also managed to get a shot of what seems to be a tree-dwelling mouse/rat species. Any help in identifying this creature is highly appreciated. 1 - as discovered by Edu during the sortie. ;D

Hehehe..... nice incriminating shots, Mark. Now, nobody among the guilty can claim to their spouse/GF that they attended a "client meeting" at Mindoro! Love the bokeh and colors in these shots.
