Or to put it more accurately, does any birdnut have or can arrange access to field sporting events? Seems to me that our BIF tools (good focusing bodies + long lenses) and skills are good for sports applications too, especially for field events where light is more abundant and we can use less bright long lenses. In my last couple of sorties (Zambales where I got zero shots and Binmaley), the temperature was so hot that there were hardly any birds that can be seen, plus of course it's even more laborious to carry our heavy gear in such adverse temps. Shooting sports can be good practice for keeping our BIF reflexes keen.

I was in the UP Diliman this morning and I wanted to shoot some people playing frisbee sport and another group playing soccer. The light was good enough to get the shutter speeds that's required but my companion needs to go someplace else and can't stay. Would have been nice, I think I will come back another day.

Your 1D3's 10 fps + the wide open sharpness of your 500 f4.5 will be a killer at field sports, Rey! sir romy, i am from the sports science department of the UP CHK, we are planning to set up a sports photog club within our unit to document most of the sports we participate in.
