Got this fella during a birding sortie in Ninoy Wild Life in QC. First time ever to see a squirrel in my entire life and I never thought to see one in the middle of a city. I am not sure if this is an escapee but I see a few of them and they seem to be thriving out there.

Looks like North American Grey Squirrels, Toto. They are escapes and some have already established small breeding colonies. They can also be seen in the American War Cemetery. These animals should remain in cages as they are introduced species and may cause damage to our local fauna (including our birds!). We do have local squirrels in Palawan and in Bohol and Mindanao.
Nice shot by the way!

Ohhh. I see. Thanks for the info Adri. I thought these are locals. If this is the case, this should be arrested as soon as possible. I think they are easy to spot. Dennis and I have seen several pairs.
My wifey's dad told there are some squirrels too around Fort Bonifacio and they see it everytime they play tennis there. These could be the same kind. What gov agency is renponsible for these issues?

Aww, how CUTE! I find squirrels so cute, although I do agree that they shouldn't have been released here. There are a lot of North American squirrels in the Makati villages like DasmariƱas and Forbes.
