This nice looking migratory raptor is rarely photographed locally. Congrats to Ely T. for nailing it with a background to die for, good low angle, nice eye contact and awesome detail!

I agree with you 90% of what you said but we should not die for the background but live to take more pictures with that kind of background. Heh heh heh. I must confess that the 1D and 800mm combination has made the IQ of the pictures that I take a lot better than what I used before. Mabuhay.

Lol.... getting low to get that nice angle is a life-risking exercise for my beloved tummy! BTW, Ely.... just for record purposes, which Thunderbird resort was this taken in?

Lol.... getting low to get that nice angle is a life-risking exercise for my beloved tummy! BTW, Ely.... just for record purposes, which Thunderbird resort was this taken in? This is the one in Poro Point, La Union besides the Wallace Airbase where you told me you used to play golf. Speaking of tummy, this is one problem that food lovers like us will always have.

Wow congrats sir Ely! reaaaly beautiful shot. I notice there is some kind of a ring in one of the raptor's legs. Could be a leaf of a grass though.

Wow congrats sir Ely! reaaaly beautiful shot. I notice there is some kind of a ring in one of the raptor's legs. Could be a leaf of a grass though. Thank you Toto. I check on my other photos and there was no ring. It must have been a colored blade of grass that gave it that illusion. You got sharp eyes to have noticed that.

Congratulations on bagging this week's crown for the wonderful capture of this raptor, Ely! I just noticed this now after taking a look at the image above: there seems to be what looks like a little leash/rope around the bird's left leg?
