I brought an 18-200 OS + 7D to Pogito's grade school graduation rites the other day. Unfortunately, only the official photographer was allowed near the stage and inside the poorly lit area of the gym where the kids were seated. So what would a birdnut do? I went back to my car and took out my ever ready, bright birding lens. It was much heavier than the 18-200 OS, but I was able to shoot Pogito from a distance. I also mounted my 5D2 instead of the 7D so I can shoot in high ISO with confidence sans flash. ;D 5D2 + 400 2.8 IS + 681B monopod, f/2.8, 1/250 sec, ISO 2500, major crop, available gym lighting And here's how tough it was to shoot one's kid when he's not seated in the front row and he's one of the shortest boys of the class. 5D2 + 400 2.8 IS + 681B monopod, f/2.8, 1/250 sec, ISO 3200, uncropped full frame, available gym lighting (Posted this too at DP Review: forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1029&message=34920542 )

Very nice grad photos of Pogito, Romy. I just can imagine, all the photographers looking at your big lens.

Congratulations to your son on this auspicious day. Was it shot indoors under florescent lights?

Thanks, William and Pao! Congratulations to your son on this auspicious day. Was it shot indoors under florescent lights? Yes, indoors and after dark - mixed lighting, mostly fluorescent, very tough to get the WB right.
