Hi JP, No, not aureola. The bird you linked (the link you provided, not your photo I mean) is an adult female. To notice here that rather than a true and proper supercilium (as would have the aureola when not breeding) we have a zone that is a little bit more yellow and starting from the lores (I have other photos of winter sulphurata showing this feature). Also to note that the aureola does not have an eye-ring as conspicuous as this. Also aureola tends to have a thicker wing-bar than shown on this bird.
As far as the auricular feature you mention - in the aureola it tends to be more conspicuously contoured with brown contours and tending to white in the center.
Again, the KG plate is misleading - it shows only an adult bird in fresh plumage.

To all interested. I realise that there are those not convinced of the ID. Therefore, I have very temporarily uploaded a photo that is not mine, but that explains the head marking of the bird we are examining here. I will take this photo off tomorrow. Unfortunately, OBI is down for maintenance, otherwise I would just provide a link to that site. The Link: www.flickr.com/photos/22004717@N00/2312309073/sizes/o/
