Thank you, thank you Glenn, Ivan, Neon, Tonji, Prop Jerry Sylvia, Lydia and all my other friends. But like I said, hold onto them first until I get the hang of the Sigmonster. I must admit Tonji's post almost made me want to cry. Thanks for those sweet encouraging words! I confess I was at Trees first thing this morning but the Serpent Eagle was flying about and there were absolutely NO BIRDS!!! A few showed up but I was not able to capture them. Today was just getting used to taking it our of the case, getting the tripod (new!) adjusted and setting up the camera and remembering the things that Romy told me I must or must not do. I took practice shots of branches that I hoped birds would perch on. I discovered a new place though on the way home that had clear views of Rhabdornis, Elegant Tits, Purple Throated Sunbirds and others. there is an interesting fruiting tree that attracted the small birds. I also saw a small-sized raptor that was flying about that I could not ID. I just stopped to check it out. It was too hot though and there was no shade, I was afraid to expose my new baby to direct sunlight! I will go back but with an umbrella next time. Poor Allan.... di lang driver, taga hawak din ng payong! I am practicing though! As soon as I post I will await all your comments, all your suggestions and opinions with an open mind. I will not send a hit-man after you! I promise! Again dear friends, thanks and please do not hesitate to share tips with me!

Congratulations Ixi for being the heir of the much storied lens of the Internet. That lens and Romy's works online inspired me to pursue this hobby. May the Sigmonster in your hands inspire the next generation of Philippine bird photographers.

Hehehe..... the beast is so big and heavy that the process of just taking it out of the bag and mounting it on a tripod is a separate, mini-workflow by itself! Looking forward to your first Sigmonster birds, Ixi.

I just noticed that the Master has changed his title to "ex-Sigmonster Tamer".
..... I wonder what "beast" the Master will tame next. ;D

But here's a raptor in flight with busy background where I used the beast. Eastern Marsh-Harrier ( Circus spilonotus, male) Habitat - Uncommon, primarily in wetlands and grasslands. Shooting info - Candaba wetlands, February 1, 2007, 1DM2 + Sigmonster, 800 mm, f/8, 1/1250 sec, ISO 400, major crop, 475B/3421 support
