Wow!! Cooooooorrrrrrrrrooooooooonnnnnnnn!! I need to visit this place soon or else I'll go balistic.
All exceptional captures, Bong! Can just imagine how dark it is when you have to use 800-2000 ISOs with 1/30-50 shutters!! Great work!!

Gabs, Dennis, Ka Mastah, Neon, Rey & Ms. Tina, thanks for your kind comments! @ Neon - Indeed the lighting condition where I took these pictures is so challenging, I even used MLU in most of the shots. I hope I had Ka Romy's 400/2.8. I'm sure the AF of the 7D will also shine compared to the 5DII slow AF and long shutter lag. I had a hard time focusing with busy foreground and low contrast subjects. I suggest that you go to Coron before your next incarceration! @ Rey - you should book now before the stream where they range dries up! @ Ms. Tina - I'm sure you'll get them next time you visit the place since Mulawin has already memorized where they can be found. The pair of RKF can be found in several place almost the whole day.

I want to go. I want to go, yeah, before the river dries up. (Scary). Those are nicely composed captures, Bong. I love the colors of the ODKF and its background. The color blend is superb, I think I'm going to try to paint. telyds

I want to go. I want to go, yeah, before the river dries up. (Scary). Te Lyds, if there is enough forest cover the rivers would not dry up due to el nino, as about 80% of the moisture are harvested by these trees and the other plants (mosses, etc.) from the clouds that passes through even without rainfall! (and you see clouds everywhere). So I guess everyone will hopefully realize the importance of leaving the mountains full of tress, we shouldn't be having this water shortages in the first place considering that more than 2/3 of this country are suppose to be mountains full of trees.

11 lifers!!!! Congratulations, Bong. Excellent shots of the kingfishers considering the difficult lighting situations you encountered.
(Note to self: include Coron in places to visit ;D )

The pair of RKF can be found in several place almost the whole day. I was there twice with the river (actually a small stream) all dried up, that's why I didn't get to see the Kings but the upside is that I got more time to look for the other birds and got me 17 lifers in four days. So if you go there Clem, you won't be dissapointed. Ely is actually in Coron right now trying out the 1D4 on his third visit.

Yeer sooooo right, Neon. Actually, seeing cleared areas for farming and eco-tourism development should be Bong's warning- not before the river dries up but before all the trees and vegetation are cut and cleared. Yan really scary. Kaya I want to go soon. lyd

Thank you Adri, Telyds, Bob & Clemn! @ Telyds - these KF will be a welcome addition to your SWKF photo collection. The area were I went is still in pristine condition. It's basically a "sitio" with just a few families. Eco-tourism development hasn't reach it yet and the farmlands are mostly on the other side. It is situated on a higher ground and near a mountain. @ Bob & Clemn - you won't be disappointed if you decide to visit the place. You'll be amply rewarded.
