I dropped by Photoworld after picking up my new replacement 7D yesterday, with the intent of checking out what high-cap CF cards are available. JT Photo has the Sandisk Extreme 32 GB 60 Mbps, listed at PHP 14,100 and less 10% if paid in cash, 5% if credit card. Net cash price is PHP is 12,690.00. I balked at the price, because this is available at Tin Cheung - HK at around PHP 9K (and this store is not yet the cheapest seller at HK): www.tincheungcamera.com.hk/product/7750After weighing things, I settled for a Kingston 32 GB Ultimate 266X (45MB/sec read, 40MB/sec write), at PHP 6,900 (from Accent-Micro). Kington's site: www.kingston.com/flash/cf_ultimate.aspI used this CF card in testing my new 7D copy, and it's faster than my Sandisk Extreme III 16 GB 30 Mbps. I can shoot about 18-20 RAWs with the 7D burst using the Kingston, while the Sandisk gets about 16 RAWs on the same camera. For those looking for a mid-priced high-cap CF card, the Kingston 32 GB Ultimate 266X presents a good balance of performance vs. value. If cost is no issue, then go for the Sandisk cards of course.

Good tip, Master.
I had a bad experience with a Kingston SD card some years back. Got one for my wife's pointnshoot and it was broken after a few months. That's when I solidifed my decision never to go for anything but Sandisk (which continues to serve me well).
But would appreciate any future posts on how your Kingston card performs. Maybe I just chanced upon a one-in-amillion lemon.

Great heads up Romy. A year ago a 16GB Sandisk 45MB/s would cost $300 But now a card like that is half the price and double the capacity. Does the Kingston buffer? BTW is the replacement 7D as good as the loaner? ;D

UPDATE - Feb. 5, 2010:I used the Kingston 32GB CF card in the field for the first time yesterday at Candaba, and I shot about 7 GB worth of BIFs. I deleted many shots in-camera (to test any potential issue), and I uploaded only about 4 GB to my desktop. Works well so far, absolutely no issues. I didn't run out of buffer during BIF burst shooting too. BTW is the replacement 7D as good as the loaner? ;D Yes, it's as good as far as noise is concerned, and even better in AF...... best focusing 7D copy among the 5 I've tried so far.

After nearly two months of field use, including 3 days of marine environment shooting at Olango island where the card was filled to capacity and many selective deletions were done, absolutely no issues yet.
