We reached Candaba with the sun still below the cloudy horizon. We saw this bird hopping at the side of the road and since there's this ISO number 6400 that my 5D2 is capable, why not have a go at it and see what the results will be. I was surprised at the low amount of noise and even got a presentable photo. Siberian Rubythroat ( Luscinia calliope) 5D2 + 600mm L f4 IS + 2x Kenko TC, f4, 1/200 sec, ISO 6400, Tripod-Gimbal support, manual exposure in available light, In body High ISO noise reduction - ON. Shooting distance - 21.8m

Not bad at all! 5D2 is in my wishlist and this picture certainly provides more reason for me to dream more about that camera

Thanks Ka Mastah, Edu and Ariel! I was surprise myself with the IQ...now I have increased, again, my birding time by as much as 2 hrs, 1hr early in the morning and 1 hr late afternoon.

Neon, you got him again! Hehe. Great job. I used the same technique to nail this fellow.
I do agree with the 5Dmk2 giving some additional time to take pictures.
