timing was almost perfect! i was in anvaya when one of the nests finally hatched at the time i "overstayed" only had the 80-400 and the 25/f2.8 pancake lens with the d200 and it was cloudy and almost sunset.... nikon d200 + nikkor 45/f2.8 pancake lens nikon d200 + nikkor 80-400VR @ 400mm

Looks so fragile, Manny.... very nice documentation! I wish I can shoot a subject like this with a 5D2 + Sigma 24 D1.8 macro, which focuses so close that you can touch the subject with the tip of the lens hood.

there's still another nest which may hatch anytime soon.... probably within the week. i literally had to run over to the beach to be able to catch the "frenzy". i did have my extension tube and micro-nikkor 55/f2.8 but chose to head straight over and capture it with what i have than just have very very few pics.

They look so fragile compared to the adult that looks so invincible. It would have been nice to take a macro. Are you allowed to touch them so you can photograph them? The beauty of nature never ceases to amaze me. Thank you for sharing Manny. Mabuhay.
