Okay, I am not really sure if it is the same bird that Romy captured a few months back but who knows?. The beak now has a lot more green thus it must be older. Anyway, I was happy to capture a fair image of it last weekend, just as I was about to go home, as it is not the easiest bird to image, it is shy, likes to come out only late in the afternoon, prefers shady areas and is mainly black but I just love that mint green beak. Besides I feel that it is one of our most unusual endemic. Plain Bush-hen (Amaurornis olivaceus) Endemic Canon 1D mkII canon 300mm F4l IS 2x kenko TC 1/125 f8 iso 800 on car window support oops! almost forgot the Ruff a recent lifer for me taken at Candaba late december 2009. Persistence, patience, and going after your target shows how focus you are when it comes to bird photography. I am going to take that as a lesson from you and capture the two IBK that has not given me a real good picture yet. I like the green beak of the Bush-hen too. It reminds me of the green beak Malkohas. Well done Doc. Mabuhay.

I love the semi-ground level angle on the bush-hen! I can still see how the bird is right smack inside the DOF! Great job Doc!
