hi' I noticed that i could have descent (personaly acceptable) sharpness of images when it is captured at relatively closer camera to subject distance (say less than 5m). But the more i come to approach the birds it seems i scare them and they fly away and that would prevent me to capture their images. Question? Would i be able to get the same "sharpness" with a 2xTC and camera to subject distance doubled? Below is the image i captured at less than 5m camera to subject distance. D5000 + Sigma 150-500mm, 450mm, ISO2000, 1/160s, f/7.1, +1.0EV, WB Auto, window cell support

You just have to learn the ninja way of approaching the bird ;D It will also affect your wide open aperture from f6.3 to f11, with this opening only in full sunlight would you be able to take dynamic birds. When under canopy you need a good tripod and a remote shutter to get good photos of static birds.
