There are tons of great captures this week, given the long Christmas break that allowed birdnuts more time to do sorties. This made selecting the FBPOTW a specially tough job.
This amazing capture of the mirabilis race of this endemic bird won out in the end because of rarity of in-habitat photos of such a species, and the aesthetics of the shot (detail, pose, lighting, perch, etc.) Likewise, the distinctive white belly of this race is shown very well.
