With the my second 3421 gimbal head, I can now mount both my birding rigs at the same time, and be capable of being a simultaneous threat to Candaba flyers and waders.... ;D TWIN BIRDING ARTILLERY. The 1DM2 + 500 f4 IS + Canon 1.4x TC on the left takes care of short range and action shots, while the 40D + Sigmonster + Canon 2x TC on the right projects serious angular pixel density at distant birds. For size reference, the bigger photo at the back is a 20"x30" photo from the 20D, and the rest are 12"x15" prints from various DSLRs. To those who just bought the 3421, note that the resistance of horizontal panning knob might not be correctly set at the factory for your lens size/weight. You've to buy a 2.5 mm Allen key to unlock the knob (the locking screw can be accessed if you remove the rubber cover) so you can set desired panning resistance. This Allen key is available at most hardware stores for probably less than PHP 30.00. Romy

Ka Romy, is it prone to shake or wobble if it's not properly calibrated to a lighther lens like the 400 5.6. I noticed a slight wobble in my set-up, don't know if it's within accepted range.

Rey, it should not wobble too much even with a Sigmonster. Try to tighten the panning knob till the wobble is gone. When adjusting the resistance, your camera + lens must be mounted to simulate shooting conditions. The resistance feels different with the bare head compared to when a lens/camera is mounted.
