When I was still in grade school, I used to play with these bugs which occasionally show up in the garden. Took me a while to touch it.

Thanks, folks. Amazing details Mastah. Looks like the 1D is relegated to static subjects now. When handholding at macro distances, the DOF is so thin that accurate focus is often very difficult.... the subject easily goes out of the sharp zone with each minute movement of the body or the hand. The 1DM2's AI servo takes care of that - keeping the bead on the subject even if the shooter moves. ;D
