Ate Lyd you might be able to help me with this caterpillar. Overall length is about 1 inch, feeding on wild creeper vines at UP campus. Larger picShot @5x magnification

HI Bien, It looks like a moth to me but if you can show me a full photo and tell me its size maybe I can tell what family of cat. it is. I seriously gather photo data of butterflies in the early and adult stages (egg, larva, pupa, butterfly) Its relationship to plants is equally important. You see, each species of butterfly has a preferred host plant for the larvae. So if you have the host plant (the plant being eaten by the cat.) photo as well, it can give us a good clue. I will encourage those who take photos of caterpillars to always get a good photo of the plant for identification. This will help us in the protection and conservation of butterfly habitats.

Oooops. Sorry, Bien, did not notice your description. 1 inch. Whoa! Superb macro-shot! Were there ants nibbling on the body or gathering around it? It may be a Lycaenid butterfly.
