Dear folks,
Like many people in Metro Manila and nearby areas, I got hit by typhoon "Ondoy" quite hard last Saturday. The creek adjoining our village overflowed and our area was flooded - the worst in decades. I was able to save my family, vehicles, this laptop (from which I'm now posting) and most of my birding gear and HDDs.... not much else. I'm now trying to clean my house of debris, pick up the pieces and start anew.
I'll be focused these coming days on trying to bring our lives back to near normal, so I beg your pardon that I can't be very active in the forums for a while. Don't worry, this birdnut and his family are fine, and we'll surely overcome this challenge soon.
My sympathies and prayers to fellow victims of "Ondoy."

No need to ask for pardon mastah, forum inactivity under those circumstances is not only forgivable but also encouraged. You posting this is already too much from you.
We all hope you will be okay and recover quickly.
My warmest regards to your family.
Edu

Add my deep sympathy to all the comments above. I've been following the news on "Ondoy" and I feel really bad for the Manilans. Praise God, Ka Romy, that at least you saved some of your belongings - others were much less fortunate. Let us all pray for the speedy recovery of those hard hit areas in Metro Manila, and that God Almighty might show mercy on His People and heal the land.

Romy, Sorry to hear that you were also greatly affected by this terrible event. Glad your family are all well. My sympathies to you, other members of this forum who were affected as well and to the thousands who got the worst of this event. It's really hard watching this from the outside. Cheers, Neon

I pray that you will receive all the provisions you need to recover. May you draw nearer to the One who controls all, the One who enables you to cope, the One whose staff and rod will lead you and keep you safe. Though you are going through tough times, may you find joy in everything that you do, even in cleaning up the mess. May all be well for you, Nimfa and Pogito. Love. telyds

Glad to hear a rare birdnut and family is fine, and thank God for that. Wishing you and all the victims well these coming tough days, may He give you all the strength you need in bringing things back to near normal as possible.
Don't worry, the forum are in good hands, the least you need to worry about.
(I better call my folks as soon as I get home this evening)
