I saw him resting in the grass. I stopped suddenly and he just stood there. So I kept on shooting. It was my last shot before I head out to a 10 hour drive home. It was then that I remembered that I forgot to switch my minimum focal setting from 6.5 to 1.8mm. I'm glad a couple turned out okay. 1/800 f5.6 ISO500 EF100-400 IS

Wow it must have been a thrill to come face to face with a huge deer. Normally they would run away at the sight or sound of anyone approaching. But there was a deer in the golf course where I play that started as friendly and enjoyed being patted on the head. I even fed bananas to him and guess what he preferred the skin to the banana. As time goes by he started being over playful by using his horns to poke at you. I decided to stay away but several ground men were seriously gored by this deer that they decided to make a meal out of him. The end of what started nice and amusing and ended on a sad note. Its good that you got a good looking picture. Mabuhay.

So when was this? This place is my playground and maybe I was there when you took this photo. Nice capture, Jun! Here's mine: 30D+100-400L IS combo on tripod (IBS)

Thanks Ely, it's a great feeling watching wildlife in his own environment and not caged. @ed, Salamat din. It was Monday of the long weekend. I shot it around noonish. I really didn't have much time since I have to work the next day in Vancouver. And I still have a 10 hour drive ahead of me. My nephew rented a 300mm f2.8 so we went to Frank lake but with no success. So on my way out of town I decided to drop by IBS. The deer was just resting on a bough of grass near the river overlooking a golf course on the other side. Looking at his rack. It looks like we caught the same deer. I've visited that place 3 times and still haven't seen an owl

Thanks for the coordinates Ed.
My shot was taken on the same trail on Owl spot #2 about 30yards off the riverbank. My previous description was not helpful since I did not realize that the whole sanctuary was adjacent to a golf course.
