Hi folks,
Earlier today, I sent out emails informing various personalities involved in Philippine birds of the opening of the forums, and inviting them to drop by. One such email was sent to Dr. Bob Kennnedy, the legendary author of the "Kennedy Guide."
Imagine my very pleasant surprise when he emailed back, saying "Great to see this new forum. Good luck with your impressive work and hope someday that our paths will cross."
I hope Dr. Kennedy won't mind me posting his message, but we birdshooters consider his guide as a Bible in the field, hence a short note from him always make our day. He might not be able to read this post, but let me extend my deepest thanks to him for inspiring a bumper crop of birdnuts. ;D
To paraphrase Mao, let a thousand bird photographers flourish!

Hi everyone,
With so many developments on Philippine birds, I wonder when will Dr. Kennedy publish the 2nd updated edition of the Kennedy Guide.

Yep. An updated printed copy would always come handy in the field. But the cost of publishing a book is not a joke. What is very exciting is the online gallery Neon and Ka Romy started. This is really impressive. With thousands of butterfly photos I have on file, I hope The Philippine Butterfly will have its own gallery someday. te lyd

Master Romy, thank you for letting Bob Kennedy know about the existence of this forum and making him aware of the enormous progress of Philippine ornithology through the efforts of the PBP and WBCP.
A second edition of the Field Guide may not be forthcoming soon, but at least we have this forum as an ongoing reference. Thanks to all of you for the growing list of outstanding photographs of Philippine birds. Thanks also to Steve, Des Allen, Jon Hornbuckle and Rob Hutchinson for helping on the taxonomy and species identification aspects.
More power to you all from a very proud member.
