I've read somewhere that it is easier to lighten up an under-exposed shot than retrieve details from an over-exposed or blown-out shot.
If this is so, do you guys deliberately under-expose your bird photos to get the most details?

I always shoot to the right - push the histogram to near the right wall (but without blowing out the highlights) then pull back during RAW conversion. This results into better shadow detail and less noise.

I always try shoot to the right as the Mastah has always taught us because you get more details/data from the right side of the scale. Just be careful not too blow your highlights because chances are there's no more data to be retrieved and if that is the case you're better off with an underexposed shot.
