Hi gang,
I'm pasting here the announcement from Leny M. posted in our e-group:
To our photographer friends:
In connection with the coming Ibon Ebon Festival on February 1-3, 2007 we are soliciting permission to print photos of birds taken in Candaba on tarpaulin (2ft x 4ft and 3ft x 6ft) for display during the festival. We shall include the name of the photographer in the print. We are appealing that Candaba be given large computer files of the photos .5MB-1MB if possible.
Everyone is invited to the festival that will feature street dancing in bird costumes, a Bird Fest with birdwatching and kite flying (bird designs) among others.

In a recent telcon with Leny, I suggested a standard 3:4 format (3 feet x 4 feet) instead to minimize cropping from the camera's 2:3 native format. This will yield better quality in the large prints. Leny readily agreed with the 3:4 format.
I thus take this opportunity to make a call on our fellow photographers to contribute photos taken of birds from Candaba. The digital photos will be used only in the said tarp prints, for display during the festival and in other official programs of Candaba. Copyright of the photos will always belong to the photographer, and such photos may not be used for any other purposes.
To standardize the appearance of the tarpaulin prints, I suggest that the photographer would do the 3:4 cropping himself/herself so the composition is according to what the photographer wants.
The larger the file, the better will be the quality of the prints. As reference, I intend to crop and upres my contributions to 36"x48" @ 96 dpi, or about 3456 pixels x 4608 pixels.
Please include the following info in a *.doc file that will be sent with the photos:
1. File name of the photo
2. Name of Photographer
3. Common and Scientific names of the bird
4. Place and date photographed.
Photos may be sent to Leny no later than January 13, 2007 in the following manner:
1. Preferably in TIFF format via CD/DVD, or via free internet uploading/downloading sites, like www.yousendit.com/
2. Via jpeg format emailed to Leny - mun_of_candaba@yahoo.com
Let's support Candaba in its pioneering effort to preserve its wetlands. The fact that there's an ever increasing number of rarities seen in that wetlands each year is proof that Candaba's conservation program works and is bearing results.
Thanks,
Romy
