a day of firsts for me.... first time for me take all RAW shots and use Adobe Lightroom for PP first time for me to go to Candaba and it was a pleasant surprise that to get there, you had to pass through Baliwag... which is my mom's Bulacan hometown... in fact, that area is where my mom's plot of land is located. first time for me to be able to see a multitude of birds..... this shot was taken at 80mm.... imagine then if i had my wide angle to take this shot!!! here's another though taken at a different setting

first time (a lifer) for me to see this common moorhen and interestingly, a pair who acted like they were in a synchronized swimming event.... a lovely bonus is the vibrant landscape colors.... (for id please).... a heron?

a first to see this raptor, same as what Romy posted in another thread.... (this is heavily proceseed and cropped for ID purposes only) just goes to show that a 400mm is not really ideal for Candaba... but! as this shot likewise says.... common kingfisher

to cap it all, here is the closest i could get to a blue-tailed bee-eater @ close to 4 meters the customary pose and here's one ala "pilita corales" i still have yet to learn a lot more especially when it comes to processing RAW using Lightroom. your critique is most welcome. the last one of the bunch.... a fond farewell.... which was actually my first shot on my first sortie in candaba....

A bountiful harvest on your first visit, Manny! Love the colors on these, beautiful light. Shooting RAW/NEF in bursts is dangerous to your hard drive.... ;D The bird below is also a Grey Heron. (for id please).... a heron?

Hey, Manny, nice to meet you at Candaba. I'm sure you also had fun watching that piece of floating "trash" with a man inside.
Don't know where you live but another place closer than Candaba that we frequent is UP. There are lots of birding spots there were you can get your fix. Just shout and I'm sure many of us here will PM you the "secret" locations.
You also mentioned that you use a 400mm. So do I but you may want to try putting a 1.4x converter on it to extend range.
Cheers and keep 'em coming!
