I opened my Philippine Star newspaper this morning and on page B-1, there is this ad by Greenfield Development Corp. promoting its Pramana Residential Park. On the left side of the ad is a photo of what appears to be a nesting Stork, with the tagline "Others have embraced residential park living as well. Only in Greenfield City, Sta Rosa." Not too long ago, I saw a billboard along SLEX promoting a real estate project, with a photo of a nesting Golden Weaver (IIRC) as its come-on. Now, I don't really mind business entities using images of our feathered friends as marketing tools. But at least they should be accurate enough to feature species that are ranging in their project area. Which just shows how far we really are yet in getting people (both the ad folks and the public) educated on our birds. *Sigmonster Tamer finishes his rant, cranky because his macro session in his garden was rained out, while Prof. Jerry is texting that there are countless birds in a fruiting fig tree somewhere in Makiling.*

Can they be sued for false claims? I guess "truth in advertising" is now a forgotten cliche.

And here I am scanning, defragmenting and maintaining the registry of 3 laptops and 2 desktops.... a whole day job..... later, I've to bring Pogito to the barbershop. My situation is so pitiful that I'm venting my frustrations on a mound of chicken empanadas, goes well with ice-cold zero calorie Maynilad juice. ;D *Sigmonster Tamer finishes his rant, cranky because his macro session in his garden was rained out, while Prof. Jerry is texting that there are countless birds in a fruiting fig tree somewhere in Makiling.* It's a good thing Neon did not text you about the sea eagles, whimbrels and other migrants that he is taking photos of in San Juan ;D ;D ;D

Can they be sued for false claims? I guess "truth in advertising" is now a forgotten cliche. I guess we have existing laws that a local Ralph Nader can use to sue. I think the most effective deterrent is to shame them by exposing their ignorance in various media, like what we're doing in this thread. ;D

My situation is so pitiful that I'm venting my frustrations on a mound of chicken empanadas, goes well with ice-cold zero calorie Maynilad juice. ;D Peace, Master. Peace. We all have bad days. My day's turned out great so far. Wife in the province, kids and I escaped into a brand new mall and hung out at the new Cyberzone with a few hundred salespeople greeting us goodmorning every 3 meters as we typed on all the keyboards, listened to various headphones. Lunch was a pizza and beers (kids had fruit juices). This evening will be the Clone Wars! When frustration hits you, my recommendation is to lie down, take deep breaths (alternated with sips on a rum-coke) as you close your eyes and imagine you are crouched in the mud with Neon's 600mm lent to you for the day while a Celestial Monarch raises his crest for you, full frame in the golden hours of the morning with enough light for a 1/600s shot.
