For several mornings now, I noticed these tiny spitfires darting above the Bued River, hawking insects. I thought this was an excellent opportunity to retrieve my DSLR gear from deep storage and check if the electro-mechanicals are still functioning. Well the 7D II and 400 DO II are still fine, but my BIF shooting reflexes are definitely rusty. I hope these critters will stay for a few mornings more so I can improve my panning skills and get them a bit closer. Pygmy Swiftlet (Collocalia troglodytes, a Philippine endemic) 1. Wow captures, Bobby! The WCKF deployed its nictitating membrane in the second shot, probably scared of the sharp legs of the insect.

I've been trying to learn to fly a drone for a few months now. The vantage point from a camera up high gives me a unique view of the landscape. Here are a few captures of some La Union scenes.

Lovely shots, Ka Bobby. I'm a bit rusty on duck IDs, but my best guess is a Eurasian Wigeon (Anas Penelope). Here are some reference photos: Male (350D + Sigmonster + 2x TC, 1600 mm)
Female (1D2 + 500 f4 IS + 1.4x TC, 700 mm)
The other duck in the second photo is of course unmistakably a female Northern Shoveler (Anas clypeata).
