Well, close to infinity distance, that is. I raised my gear to shoot a short burst upon hearing its call, if only to document the species, the first time I saw it in my native La Union. Colasisi ( Loriculus philippensis, a Philippine endemic) Shooting Info - Bued River, Rosario, La Union, Philippines, May 11, 2017, EOS 7D MII + EF 400 DO IS II, 400 mm, f/5.0, 1/2000 sec, ISO 400, manual exposure in available light, hand held, 44.60 m. distance, uncropped full frame resized to 900 x 600. 100% crop At least, this garden bird allowed me to get a bit closer this morning. Yellow-vented Bulbul ( Pycnonotus goiavier) Shooting Info - Bued River, Rosario, La Union, Philippines, May 12, 2017, EOS 7D MII + EF 400 DO IS II, 400 mm, f/5.0, 1/2000 sec, ISO 320, manual exposure in available light, hand held, 15.60 m. distance, major crop resized to 1500 x 1000.

Great capture and excellent reflexes to react on such a short time Romy :-). Nice detail on the YVB.

I agree with Conrad, the skill to react fast and accurately to such fleeting moments is only acquired through years of practice; something Ka Mastah has a huge lead over the rest of us! :-)

Thanks, Conrad and Ka Bobby! Someday, somehow, I believe I will get this bird in flight closer.

Seems like static birds and those big, slow, and easy-to-catch-in-the-frame ones have become too unchallenging for you, Ka Mastah! :-D You keep upping the ante.

Thanks, Mark! You're right, it's not much fun for me to shoot ordinary birds anymore, unless these are in the air.
