While Tateo and I were waiting for the terns to start feeding (so we could practice our BIF techniques), this Osprey suddenly appeared heading towards us! It flew so close and passed us overhead that I was not able to capture its full body within a frame! I got several shots off, and so did Osawa, here's 3 consecutive shots from a burst of 5: Canon EOS 7D Mark II with EF400mm f/5.6L USM; ƒ/6.3; 1/2000; ISO 320 Osprey (Pandion haliaetus)Osprey Close Up (2nd Shot) by Grandpa@50, on Flickr Osprey Close Up (1st Shot) by Grandpa@50, on Flickr Osprey Close Up (3rd Shot) by Grandpa@50, on Flickr A composite of full body shots of it as it was approaching us: Osprey Composite by Grandpa@50, on Flickr Hope you like 'em. I'm sure Osawa will have some other photos and angles to share :-) Bobby K.

Those are amazing raptor macros, Bobby!
Lol, it's not often that a birdnut suffers from too much focal length. Would you have the time to zoom back if you were carrying your 150-600?

Hahaha, I don't think it would have even entered my mind at that time Ka Mastah! You've seen these birds fly - they can cover several meters with one wing flap! I don't think I would have been quick enough to zoom out, even if I tried. :-)

Good you had your 400 with you. Yeah, the 400 is my weapon of choice for BIF's. I think that lens is one that we all should have :-)
