After years of failed attempts, I am glad to present to you my very first acceptable captures of the shy Javan Pond Heron in flight. Were it not for the amazing AF speed of the 7D-Mk2 and Canon EF-400mm Lens combo, I still would not have captured this bird in flight. These were taken at Jugan, Consolacion, Cebu. I agree with you Bobby. The 7DII is fast and reliable. Romy thinks this is the best camera for birding because of the 1.6 crop factor. I am now using it on my 800mm and it is quite remarkable. I prefer this camera than using a TC.

Quick hands too. Chance favours the prepared mind truly. Nice, Bobby. Cheers!

Not only that, this was a "grab shot" - JPH fly faster than other herons, and tend to shy away from people, specially in flight, yet the 7DMk2 was quick enough to lock on it and I got 8 out of 11 shots sharp! Quick hands too. Chance favours the prepared mind truly. Nice, Bobby. Cheers! Quite true Prop! This time however, this Pond Heron jumped up and out of a tree, leaving me only a split second to aim, track and capture it in-flight. It was all I could do, and the 7DMk2 just did it's job well. :-) Nice to see your BIF Bobby, beautiful color and sharp!! Thanks Tateo - too bad you were on the other side while this action was going on :-)
