I was lucky to have seen this bird before it was killed. Stayed well away from the eagles so that I could observe their natural behavior and they won't get stressed, they have very good eye sight and hearing that any movement inside their comfort zone will make them wry and defensive. Taken from around 100m or so. Great Philippine Eagle ( Pithecophaga jefferyi) - Davao City, April 3, 2014 5DM3 + 600 f4 IS + 2x Kenko TC, 1/1250 sec, f4(8), ISO 800, Tripod-Gimbal support, natural light.

Thanks, Bobby. Unfortunately I heard nothing about justice being done. :-(

I heard that there is a new sight for the Philippine Eagle. They are an endangered specie and it might be a good time to try to get some good pictures now that they can be seen.

Amazing wingspread partner, the extreme telephoto compression makes it appear the raptor is about to smash the foliage to fly through!

Neon, I think reports are that it was the male that was killed.
Yup, that was pretty tragic. Another case of stupidity.
