While waiting for the Sooty this bird landed on a nearby tree, it was so near that I needed to get out of my tree hide and set my gear in the middle of the busy road. I snapped a few quick bursts thinking that if I stayed longer a car would pass and the driver will get angry at me so I decided to cross to the other side of the road but unfortunately the bird got spooked when I was doing it. Superb sharpness, nice light, Neon! If this is full frame, it would also be nice to see a landscape crop of just the head, say resized to 1500x1000. The detail on that would be jaw-dropping.

Thanks Tina, Tateo, Ka Mastah and Bobby. Ka Mastah, not full frame I was shooting in landscape and didn't realize I could loosen the screw on the lens and quickly turn it on portrait, only thought of it when I was reviewing my shots. Come to think of it, it would have been an automatic response a year ago to get the whole bird in the frame. Would try the head crop :-).

Here's the head crop, needed to do some NR to tone down the noise that was magnified due to the small crop.

Wowwowwwww!!!
That's the framing/comp I was thinking of - studio level background (without cheating/artificial blurring) and tons of detail. Even if the crop is major, there's still lots of pixels left from the 5D3 shot to make a decent sized print, or an over-the-top web image. Great job on the capture and PP, partner.
