I finally got a better shot of my new favorite species yesterday, one with a catch light, wingspread and the diagnostic white band around the rump visible.
I've to time the shot when it banked towards the morning sun so its darkish underparts will be illuminated. This is easier said than done because of the erratic flight behavior of the bird and its very small size. At 3-1/2 inch total length, the bird in the photo is about lifesize when viewed at 96 dpi displays.

Thanks, Des. These little guys are always seen in the same area near where I stay at Rosario, La Union. They usually come out early in the morning and the sunrise if not obscured by clouds gives a me a shooting window of one hour, from 7 am to 8 am.

It's so hard to take photos of these birds. I hope one day I get to take a photo that is as good as this one. I am oh so, so happy that you are back Romy.

What a challenging picture. You are probably the only one who can do this. Well done Romy & Mabuhay.
