While waiting for the Pygmy Swiftlets at Bued River this morning, I saw this garden-variety bird spread its wings and tail while making loud calls. My gear was set to BIF shooting, so my shutter speed was fast enough to freeze the wing spread. After over a decade of heavy field use, my battle-scarred 400 5.6L is still impressively sharp even at wide open aperture. Yellow-vented Bulbul ( Pycnonotus goiavier) Shooting info - Bued River, Rosario, La Union, Philippines, February 4, 2015, 5D MIII+ 400 f5.6 L, 400mm, f/5.6, ISO 640, 1/2500 sec, manual exposure in available light, AI servo, hand held, major crop.

Battle-scarred on the outside but still good inside resulted in this glorious picture of the popular Yellow-vented Bulbul. Well done Romy & Mabuhay.
