***UPDATE, January 31st - the small BIF turned out to be a Pygmy Swiftlet, an endemic photolifer for me! ***
_____
I'm having much fun trying to catch unusual BIFs along Bued River (Rosario, La Union). Most photos are heavily cropped, but the subjects are not often captured in flight, so these are novelty images nonetheless.
My venerable, battle-scarred 400 5.6L becomes my lens of choice for these hand held shots. I'm processing from my uncalibrated laptop screen, so I might have to redo these when I get back to my calibrated display.
Olive-backed Sunbird (Nectarinia jugularis, female) Shooting Info - Bued River, Rosario, La Union, January 28, 2015, 5D MIII + 400 5.6L, 400 mm, f/5.6, ISO 800, 1/2000 sec, hand held, 100% crop.
Pied Triller (Lalage nigra, male) Shooting Info - Bued River, Rosario, La Union, January 28, 2015, 5D MIII + 400 5.6L, 400 mm, f/6.3, ISO 640, 1/2000 sec, hand held, major crop.
Red-keeled Flowerpecker (Dicaeum australe) Shooting Info - Bued River, Rosario, La Union, January 27, 2015, 1D MIV + 400 5.6L, 400 mm, f/6.3, ISO 800, 1/2000 sec, hand held, major crop.
Pygmy Swiftlet (Collocalia troglodytes, a Philippine endemic)
Shooting info for both images - Rosario, La Union, Philippines, January 27, 2015, 1D MIV + 400 5.6L, 400 mm, f/6.3, ISO 800, 1/2000 sec, hand held, major crop.
And lastly, a garden variety BIF.
Red Turtle-Dove (Streptopelia tranquebarica) Shooting Info - Bued River, Rosario, La Union, January 28, 2015, 5D MIII + 400 5.6L, 400 mm, f/5.6, ISO 800, 1/2000 sec, hand held, major crop.

Very nice captures of small birds in flight, Romy. I'm surprise how you captured the red-keeled flowerpecker because I cannot even see it flying.
