Another resort of El Nido group of Islands is the El Nido Cove owned & operated by the Ayala Group. Not far from this resort is the Dalimatan Trail where I saw the Thick-billed Green-Pigeon (Treron curvirostra) 9 3/4 inches. It looks similar to the Pompadour Green-Pigeon except that it has a yellow-green skin around the eyes that extends to the edge of its nose.
Canon EOS 1DX, Canon EF 800mm f5.6L IS USM, Gitzo GT3530LS tripod, M-3.6 Mongoose Gimbal Action Head. Manual exposure in available light.
Near the entrance of the El Nido Cove hotel, I chance about the Wjite-collared Kingfisher (Halcyon chloris) 9 1/2 inches feeding on a Cicada.
1/1600 sec., f/5.6, ISO 1600
I have seen the nest of Olive-backed Sunbird (Nectarinia jugularis) 4 1/2 inches in the past. What I noticed is that they like to build their nest in the proximity of where there are people. I understand that it gives them a sense of security that larger birds will not go to where there are people. This nest is built within 10 meters of the guard post who opens the gate for guest at the resort. A good sign that the population of this bird will increase.

Along the Dalimatan trail I was able to take a photograph of the Hooded Pitta (Pitta sordida) 6 1/2 inches perched on a tree. It is always a challenge and a lot of fun to be able to photograph this bird.
1/80 sec., f/5.6, ISO 1600
Unless the bird is moving it is very difficult to see this bird feeding on a Ficus fruit (Balete). See if you can see the Thick-billed Green-pigeon feeding on a Balete fruit.
