This is an endemic only found in Mindanao mountain forests at elevations of 700 to 1500 m. It was really exciting to hear reports of this bird in a mountain resort in Davao! Tonji and I would check out the Cryptic Flycatcher area whenever we had free time in between our other birding activities in Davao. The first two shots were taken in the afternoon I was about to call it a day and head back to the cottage. The 3rd shot was taken in the morning. Thanks to Pete Simpson for the directions! This is the same bird that Ramon was telling me about. It looks so plumb and so nice to photograph. Well done Sylvia & Mabuhay.

Thanks Ely. Yes, it's the same bird! Flycatchers are really cute. This one is so tiny and the area is dark. It's hard to spot in the beginning, then it gets easier when you get more familiar with it's movements. Just like a flycatcher, it has favorite perches. We saw two of them in this site. Looked like they were having a confrontation though.

Thanks Ramon! With the pics you posted and the ones I posted, I think people will be able to figure out more easily where the bird likes to hang out.
