Common Kingfisher

These two Common Kingfishers were battling it out for pole position. They both wanted possession of the same pole that was sticking out of the fishpond. I was wondering why Ixi Mapua, Melanie Tan, Mikeli Mapua and Carmela Balcazar were so content to sit on their camp chairs by the fishpond, having a late breakfast by the pond even if there were a lot of other birds around. Turns out there was an aerial combat show going on! Thanks to Richard Ruiz for bringing us to the fishponds.
All taken at f8, iso 800, 1/2500 with Canon 5DMark3, 500 mm + 1.4t.c.
