On an alternative route to Candana, we passed some ponds with the usual whiskered terns in their breeding plumage, then we saw this nice breeding white winged terns in almost pure B&W breeding plumage. Unlike their whiskered cousins they do not plunge their head into the water but like a slow dive to the water surface to dine. 1/1600 f6.3 -.67 500 mm Sigma 50-500 canon 40D iso 250 1/2000 F6.3 -67 500 mm sigma 50-500 40D iso 250 Here it is shown perching with the breeding and non-breeding whiskered terns for comparison 1/1600 F6.3-67 500mm sigma 50-500 Canon 40D iso 400 regards to all Chito

Nice set Doc Chito! Wish the rains would stop so we could go back to Candaba one of these days.

Great captures Doc. They look so different in their breeding plumage.
