CRIMSON SUNBIRD (Aethopyga siparaja) Resident. This is the magnifica subspecies endemic to Negros, Panay and Cebu. Taken in Forest Camp, Valencia, Negros Oriental on 6/16/13. This was a photo lifer! Canon 1DX camera, 600 mm lens, 1.4x TC, tripod. Adult male in breeding plumage. 840 mm, F/5.6, ISO-3200, 1/320 second. Immature male 840 mm, F/5.6, ISO-3200, 1/800 second. For comparison, here is an adult male CSB taken in Tan Phu forest, Vietnam in February 2012. Note that the lower body is gray instead of black. Canon 1D Mark IV camera, 800 mm lens, tripod. F/5.6, ISO-400, 1/500 second.

Nice capture of the Crimson Sunbirds. I like the way you put the comparison of our birds here with that of other countries. It makes it easier to compare and to decide which one we like better.
