Made a special trip to Rye Harbour Reserve (East Sussex U.K.) to try and capture some shots of the scarce Black-necked Grebe. Luckily we found it in the predicted place. Alas poor light didn't help to get better results. All pics taken using a 5D,500mm f/4 II + 1.4X, ISO 400. _MG_2298 Black-necked Grebe by Mick Harris, on Flickr I think the eyes are amazing. _MG_2252 Black-necked Grebe by Mick Harris, on Flickr Now some shots of the more common birds on the Reserve. Eurasian Starling in the sun, which came out later on. _MG_2426 Starling by Mick Harris, on Flickr A Reed Warbler / Acrocephalus scirpaceus - a summer visitor. _MG_2432 Reed Warbler by Mick Harris, on Flickr Two shots of a Common Whitethroat / Sylvia communis another summer visiting warbler. _MG_2454 Common Whitethroat by Mick Harris, on Flickr It proved hard to capture a good shot of these very active birds but we got lucky in the end. _MG_2460 Common Whitethroat by Mick Harris, on Flickr Our second smallest bird is the Wren / Troglodytes troglodytes a resident bird with a very loud song for it's size. _MG_2438 Wren by Mick Harris, on Flickr
