RUSTY-CROWNED BABBLER (Stachyris capitalis) Endemic and found only in Mindanao. This is presumably the eurostralis subspecies found in Agusan. Taken in PICOP forest across the border from Bislig, Surigao del Sur into Agusan del Sur on 3/3/13 with the help of incredible birdguide Zardo Goring. The RCB was so difficult to capture, as it was always moving and hiding in foliage. It took me 30 minutes to take this photo, after tracking 2-3 of them and failing to get off a shot many times. The RCBs were in a spectacular mixed flock with Short-Crested Monarch, Rufous Paradise Flycatcher, Yellow-Bellied Whistler and Phil. Leaf-Warbler -- all very difficult to capture. The backlighting was also terrible -- this RCB was just a dark shadow when I fired away. This was a LIFER! Canon 1DX camera, 800 mm lens, tripod. F/5.6, ISO-1600, 1/800 second.

Big congrats on this lifer, Ramon. The RCB is indeed a difficult bird to capture in the poorly lit understory or extreme lighting conditions. Thanks for sharing.
