Ashy Prinia : Managed to get some shots of this very busy and active little bird as it hunted for food in a small corner of the Botanical Gardens in Ooty, Tamil Nadu in Southern India.I had seen a pair the day before when I only had my other camera and wide angle lens with me, so was glad to find one again the next day. Canon 7D, 400 5.6L lens. 20121125-IMG_8305 Ashy Prinia or Ashy Wren-Warbler (Prinia socialis) by Mick Harris, on Flickr

Looks like you were able to get close to this bird. Sharp and clear. Well done Mick & Mabuhay.

Thanks Ely. Yes was quite close to it. A pity it was in turn close to the background as it would show better if the BG was out of focus. Quite difficult to catch these birds still as they seem very active.
Happy birding

Photos like these makes an environmentalist crave for the safety of our wild birds. Beautiful photo, sir.

Mick, I was able to photograph an Ashy Prinia in Mumbai but from 20 meters away. Very tiny and active bird. Even with an 800 mm lens, my photos are nothing like yours. You must have been within 5 meters! Good work!

Thanks Ramon. According to the exif information I was 6.5 metres away, so pretty close. The previous day I had been even closer to a pair but only had a wide angle lens with me - doing some 'holiday' pics- so I was pleased to find one again the next day and grab a few pics as it searched for food.
Happy birding
Mick
