I was in Bongabon, Nueva Ecija with Tonji, Mike Anton, and Tito Arbatin. We went to the same area where Neon recently got the Rufous Hornbill and Philippine Fairy Bluebird. We at least 4 of these Eyebrowed Thrush in different locations during our 1-day trip there. They were mixed in with the Philippine Bulbuls. This was a lifer for all of us! Eyebrowed Thrush Turdus obscurusf9, iso 1600, 1/640 Canon 5D Mark III + 500 f4 + 1.4 tc + tripod

Wow! what an awesome shot, Sylvia! I really wanted to go back there because there is a lot to be expected from the fruiting fig trees along the way. No brown headed? I didn't spend much time on this figs as I went for my target bird. I was hoping to see the olive-backed flowerpecker that Romy got before on this road but that would be for another sortie. :-) I'm hoping that some other eye level fig tree would be fruiting on this trail when I try again.

OH WOW!!! Beautiful capture, Sylvia!!! Congrats on the new 500 V2! Your smile form the time we met up at 4am to the end of a long tiring day was priceless. Hanep!!! Tonji, bud, I think it's time for us to have a drink and reconsider our birding careers.

Thanks Neon and Mike!
Neon, there were a lot of flowerpeckers! Red-keeled, Orange-bellied, Pygmy and Tonji saw a Striped. We didn't see Olive-backed. We spent most of the time trying to get the Eyebrowed Thrush and Phil Fairy Bluebird. The Philippine Fairy Bluebird would also go to the same trees, but it wouldn't stay long.

Very nice capture of an EBT, Sylvia. Coincidentally, I captured one for the first time in Kyoto, Japan 2 weeks ago, but I have yet to see one in the Phils.

What a thrill it must have been to see a bird never seen before. With pictures that looks like this, you are going to love that 500mm. Well done Sylvia & Mabuhay.

Thank you Adri, Ramon and Ely!
Ramon -- wow those birds get around!
Ely --that was the maiden outing of my new lens. It was a whole new experience, coming from the 300 2.8. Loved it!
