The Philippine Eagle Owl (Bubo philippensis) 508 mm (20 inches) has returned and it looks like the first 3 pictures is the female specie which Karen fondly calls Mayo. The last 2 pictures looks like the fledgling first seen last January at the Manila Water Company compound. A lot bigger now but still looks and acts like a juvenile. Karen calls this one Pickle Relish. The male that I have not seen is called Mustard. The Philippine Eagle Owl is endemic to the Philippines. Canon EOS 1D Mark IV, Canon EF 800mm f5.6L IS USM, Gitzo GT3530LS tripod, M-3.6 Mongoose Gimbal Action Head. Manual exposure in available light. I am not sure if this is the female. If it is than meet Mayo. 1/400 sec., f/5.6, ISO 800 1/500 sec., f/5.6, ISO 800 1/200 sec., f/8, ISO 800 This is Pickle Relish who likes to move its head in a weaving and bobbing motion. It dances so gracefully making it a delight to watch. 1/60 sec., f/8, ISO 1600 Pickle Relish is so playful, looking as if he wants to fly down. In doing this he doses off and from time to time he looks like he will fall off its perch but than he wakes up and stabilizes himself just on time. 1/20 sec., f/5.6, ISO 1600 d

Tons of details, Ely. Very cute indeed. I didn't had a great shot of these guys last time. Hopefully I can get to photograph them again soon.

If you can get close to them than you would certainly have a good shot as they are quite friendly in the environment that they have gotten used to.

All nice shots of the Eagle Owl, Ely. I like the comical pose of the last photo. Thank you Tateo. You would have laugh have you seen this bird in that position dozing off. If not for his good grip on the branch he would suddenly have found himself flying.
