This is a very high iso shot, a result of using auto iso! I needed the high iso since we were in a dark, shady area and I was hand holding at the time. I used Dfine to remove noise from the background since it was very distracting. I'm very happy with how the shot turned out. This was my best view ever of a Steere's Pitta! ;D STEERE'S PITTAPitta steeriif4, 1/400, iso 10,000 Canom 5D Mark 3 + 300 2.8 + 1.4x tc, hand held.

Nice! I would guess it is a young bird moulting into adult plumage

Thank you Des, Ramon, Ely, and William! Des --- that's interesting that it's a young bird.

Beautiful capture Sylvia. One thing I like about the 5Dm3 is its ability to minimize noise even at high ISO. A little post-processing makes the photo look like it was taken at ISO 100.

Such a beautiful bird !!! You did a great job with capturing this one Sylvs. It's really great that most of the birds decided to show up so that you can take photos of them.

Thank you so much Tina, Tirso, Clemn, Renoir and Tonji! Tirso -- I agree about the 5DMk3. It has made my bird photography so much easier. Being able to use higher speeds gives me more usable (not blurred!) shots, especially for hand held.
