Been busy with work lately, so after 7 months of no birding ;D finally grab the long weekend holiday to go out with my family. We head down to Villa Escudero yesterday and we were welcomed by Carmela. Thanks also to Bob Kaufman for helping me reach out Carmela. On our way to VE, i felt nervous because it was raining. I thought the rain would spoil our trip. Not until around 8 am when the sun shines. My target was to get a decent shot of the IBKF. Fortunately i got a few better shots for the third time of visiting Villa Escudero. Because in my first encouter & first time to be in the place, i was not able to get a decent shot. The second time we went there - it did not show up and finally, yesterday it came out to feed. my wife and kids was able to see it too. As the phrase on the menu board at the newly built pavilion states... "It's more fun in Villa Escudero !" Canon 7D, 400/5.6, 1/20, iso 800, manual focus, tripod /gimbal support My family

Congratulations Dennis on your successful capture of the Indigo-banded Kingfisher at Villa Escudero. Now that Carmela has regulated the flow and the design of the water flow, there is a better chance of seeing the bird in the open. However when it rains hard the water can get murky and the birds will not be hunting in this area. In your case it was perch on the railing of the riverbank and you were able to capture the "heart" of the bird which is unique. It is so nice to see one happy family enjoying the facility of the resort. Children usually have more fun than any one else in an outing like this. Well done Dennis & Mabuhay.

You're right sir Ely, was lucky it perches on the railing and i was under the ramp. I was waiting also to perch on the rocks but it never did may be next time again coz my son wants to go back for an overnight trip ;D
