On the last day of my Bohol trip, before going to the airport in Tagbilaran, I passed by BISU to take a last look and see if I can get new pictures. The Silvery were not there but after a while Felix called me and he motioned me to be quiet. Slowly and quietly, I approach the area where the bird was perch. In the thick of the bushes there was an immature Silvery Kingfisher (Alcedo argentata) 150 mm (6 inches) in length preening its feathers. It was a tight fit to get the lens thru the bushes and do it as quietly as possible. Having done that, I was thankful that I went unnoticed by the bird. All these pictures are almost full frame as the distance of the bird was 8.36 meters farthest and 7.25 meters at the nearest. Canon EOS 1D Mark IV, Canon EF 800mm f5.6L IS USM, Gitzo GT3530LS tripod, M-3.6 Mongoose Gimbal Action Head. Manual exposure in available light. 1/20 sec, f/5.6, ISO 1600 1/20 sec, f/5.6, ISO 1600 1/25 sec, f/5.6, ISO 1600 1/25 sec, f/5.6, ISO 1600 1/20 sec, f/5.6, ISO 1600 1/25 sec, f/5.6, ISO 1600

Great images of this beautiful endemic, Ely. Thank you Mark, and also for mentioning that it is endemic. I forgot about that. We are very fortunate to have 223 of them out of 651 species.
