after all!! wooohooo! Lifer!! Thanks Ramon and Dion! When Ramon posted the Besra shot for ID, I decided to go to BK valley as soon as a chance arises. When I had a chance yesterday I immediately packed my gears and headed up the mountain with a friend and Ate Lyds. I thought I went home empty handed but upon reviewing my shots I got the female Besra from about 150m away from the restaurant deck. I don't know what's the business of the Besra there? maybe, waiting for small birds that would be attracted to the ripening fruits of the fig. Another bonus, and I'm really glad to see, are the all male tarictic feeding on the red fig fruits, another fig with yellow fruit is about to ripen. There is a good 2-3 weeks of spectacular views of feeding tarictics by just sitting and sipping coffee from Dion's rseto deck. Had I known I had the Besra out in the open already I would have gone for other birds and not waited for it in the nesting site, getting soaked in sweat from all the camou gear I was wearing..hehehe. The characteristic white eyebrow of the female gave the ID away. 5DM3 + 600 f4 IS + 2x Kenko TC, f4 (f8), 1/400 sec, ISO 400, Tv priority, Tripod-Gimbal support.

Nice work! But it is not the same bird as in Ramon's pics.

Yes, Des, looks like a different bird, the nest was a good kilometer from where I got this picture, looks like BK valley is a Besra haven.

Wow, you guys (Des and Neon) see details that I don't see. I cannot tell whether this female Besra is the same or different from the female Besra in the nest that I photographed.
Anyway, congrats on your lifer, Neon! That is a beautiful long-range shot. I am surprised to see the Besra and the male Tarictic Hornbill sitting together nonchalantly. Both are beautiful birds. I will definitely stake out this fruiting fig tree this Friday.

Even if it is far the eyes are still clear. As they say a bird in hand is better than two in the bush. Well done Neon & Mabuhay.

Congratulations Neon! By lookng at the photo, lens+2X TCs, make me scare! It means that this photo was taken from a considerable distance that my humble 400mm can't even reach
