Hi! We were in La Mesa Ecopark for a looong time last Friday. Early in the morning we had good views Red-bellied Pitta. Not much light, so I tried 12800 iso! My "brighter" pics had less noise than the underexposed ones. Red-bellied Pitta Pitta erythrogasterf4, iso12800, i/40, aperture priority Our real target for that day was the Pechora Pipit that Neon saw and photographed the day before. It was a lifer for us! Such a tiny bird! It stays on the ground and walks very quickly. It blends in well with all the leaves on the ground. Neon said to just look for movement on the ground. It only showed up after Neon himself showed up! Pechora Pipit Anthus gustavif4, iso4000, 1/80, shutter priority But the birds that gave us the best views were the Ashy Ground Thrushes. They were very active, moving all over the place looking for food. Ashy Ground-Thrush Zootherea cinereaWith a worm! f4.5, iso1600, 1/25, shutter priority On a nice curved branch f4.5, iso2500, 1/80, shutter priority Very close! f4, iso5000, 1/100, shutter priority Thanks for viewing! Canon 5dMark3, 300 2.8, 1.4 tc, tripod

It could be possible that Neon had the Pechopra Pipit in his pocket that is why you only saw it when he arrived. LOL. Looks like there is no noise problem for the 5D Mark III even at high ISO. This model will be a huge success with the full frame and so many focussing points. Your pictures say it all. Well done Sylvia & Mabuhay.

These are all fantastic photos Sylvs. Hmmm you are right, when we don't raise the ISO and settle for a setting that's darker...grabe the noise so I should really remember to use those higher ISOs.
My favorite is the Ashy with the worms. I would love to get a photo of the pitta... Hmmm better siyempre if all 3 - HAHAHAHAHHAHAHA.

Thank you so much Doc Boymac, Ely, Tina, William, Ariel and Mike!!
ELY -- Haha, your comment is spot on! Hahaha! It really felt like Neon pulled the Pechora out of his pocket. He showed up, and then a few minutes later the Pechora showed up!
We may have seen the Pechora when we were in La Mesa the week before. The Pechora looks about half the size of the Ashy and it walks quickly on the ground while the Ashy hops.

Fantastic captures. You've always had very high quality shots, and it seems the 5D3 is taking the quality of your photos even higher. Very nice set!
